Trapani Airport, which is also signposted as Vicenzo Florio Airport, was a small military airport until it was opened for commercial and civilian transport. It provides a gateway to Sicily for many tourists and several airlines including the low cost Ryanair. More than 500,000 passengers per year pass through the little airport and that makes it the third most busy in Sicily.

Many domestic destinations are served by Trapani Airport, these include Milan Linate, Rome, and Pisa among others. Trapani Airport has become an international hub too with Ryanair offering service from the airport to London, Brussels, Oslo, Dublin, Stockholm.

Trapani Airport lies southwest of downtown Trapani, about 13kms away, which can be reached speedily with car hire in Trapani Airport. Car rental also gives visitors the ability to explore popular local beach resorts Favignana and San Vito de lo Capo.

The Trapani Airport has very sparse services. Refreshments are available at the snack bar, there is post, an ATM and toilets, plus enough options for cheap car hire in Trapani Airport, with which to access the lovely Sicilian region. Many fascinating archaeological sites offer interest points in the area as do the picturesque coastal towns and Egadi Islands.

The airport features a new Departure lounge on the upper floor, but very few amenities are available so passengers should be aware. There are no shops, banks or restaurants. Disabled persons can access the terminal but may need to ask for assistance from staff. There is a tourist information desk and ample parking at Trapani Airport.
