Guernsey Airport, or GCI, is the sole airport on the island of Guernsey located in the English Channel. It is in a location called Forest, which is a parish in Guernsey. It is less than three miles from the capital of St Peter Port. The airport was opened officially in 1939, but regular air services did not commence until 1946. In 2008 Guernsey came close to reaching one million passengers passing through its terminals. Cheap car hire at Guernsey Airport (GCI) is a convenient way to get around the island.

The current paved runways are roughly a mile in length and they service a number of airlines, such as; Lufthansa, VLM, Air Southwest, Aurigny Air Services, Blue Islands and Flybe. Flights are primarily to and from destinations around the UK with a few flights to greater European destinations. Daily cargo flights are also run in and out of the airport.

Work began on the newest terminal building in 2002, it went on to become operational on 19 April 2004. The old building was later demolished in May 2004. This was done to make space for more aircraft stands as well as a passenger walkway to walk between terminals.

A few shops, budget car rental, ATMs and a taxi stand are available just outside the main terminal. Although small, GCI still contains the basic services that you would expect from a fully functional airport.

Cheap car hire at Guernsey Airport (GCI) is a good option for getting around Guernsey. There are a number of noteworthy locations to visit around the island and taking a drive can be an enjoyable activity in itself. There is no public transit on the island and taxis can be hard to find.
