Formerly known as the Lois Botha Airport, the Durban International Airport can trace back its history from 1951 when only 1 grass runway is of existence. Today, the airport and its terminal and runways have been and are continually being upgraded, to cope with the rising number and demands of travelers. The airport is located about 18 kilometers south of Durban and can be accessed through the M4 Southern Freeway from the city center.
